A new chapter for The Templerie
After six years spent restoring The Templerie, a new chapter begins: saving three precious 18th-century trumeaux - decorative painted panels set into the walls - fine examples of decorative art from the reign of Louis XV. To carry out this project, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule and calling on everyone who loves old buildings, history and heritage.
The three trumeaux
Three painted scenes framed by carved and gilded mouldings: a country scene, a gallant scene and a harbour scene. Preserved in their original state, never altered or retouched, they are rare witnesses to the refinement of the house in the 18th century.
Why restore them?
Time has taken its toll: grimy varnish, wear and losses in the paint layer, missing or warped carved elements, tarnished gilding. These three exceptional pieces deserve careful restoration so they can regain their brilliance and last for centuries to come.
The project brings together three complementary crafts: painting restoration, sculpture and woodwork restoration, and gilding.
What the funds will pay for
Painting restoration
Fanny Chauvet, conservator-restorer
64 to 70 hours of work: removal, cleaning and treatment of the back of the canvas and the stretcher, varnish removal, retouching of wear and losses, final varnish.

Sculpture and woodwork
Magaly Cousin (Le Crapaud Guindé, upholsterer and decorator)
22 to 30 hours in the workshop: recreating missing carved elements, straightening warped elements, refitting.

Gilding
Laure Plot, gilder
Removing and cleaning the gilded mouldings, filling losses, applying gold leaf to worn areas, adding a patina to blend the new gold with the old.
